Welcome to Life Church Small Groups |
|
For the most part, America is the most individualistic society in history. Our culture is full of people who daily deal with “crowded loneliness” – an over-exposure to people but not connected to anyone. The realities of our culture cry out to us to do church in the context of community instead of doing community in the context of the church. You have to spend time with people – lots of time – to build deep relationships. This is why fellowship is so shallow in many churches; we don’t spend enough time together, and the time we do spend together is usually listening to one person speak. Connecting is what life is all about. Loneliness, individualism, and isolation violate the very nature of our existence as much as trying to breathe underwater. Christians need relationships to grow. We don’t grow in isolation; we develop in the context of fellowship.
As Life Church grows larger in attendance, we must simultaneously grow it smaller through small groups. Small group ministry is the primary model for “doing church” found in the New Testament (Acts 2:42-47). At the Life Church , small groups are the delivery system for the ministry of the body...
- where needs are discovered and met
- where baptisms, communion, and prayer receive proper attention and focus
- where ministry gifts are activated and released as we discover the significance of the Table of the Lord
